Vardsia

Vardzia - a rock-built town located 18 kilometers from Akhalkalaki to the Turkish border. The city was built to protect the southern boundaries of Article XII-XIII centuries Georgian King George III and his daughter Tamara. Vardzia is a multi streets, tunnels and stairs leading to monasteries, temples, fortresses, baths, libraries, homes and more. The city has over 600 rooms connected with corridors.
